Watersports and Chandlery Assistants (full time and/or part time)

Sandy Point Watersports, based on Hayling Island, welcomes applications from individuals to assist in our chandlery during the 2025 summer season and beyond.
You’d be based at our shop at the renowned Hayling Island Sailing Club on the south-east side of Hayling Island, Hampshire, UK. We are open seven days a week, all summer and on a limited basis out of season.
We recognise that ‘one-size-fits-all’ does not apply in the watersports industry. We are looking for the right people (young or old) that fit with our ethos and enthusiasm, so we are open to hearing from anyone who has a genuine interest in rolling up their sleeves and helping us make the customers happy and grow the business.
Ideally, we would like you to have some experience of and enthusiasm for watersports, and enjoy providing great customer service as part of our knowledgeable team.
- Assisting customers in finding products. (Product training will be provided.)
- Answering questions about products and their uses.
- Handling sales transactions, including cash and credit card payments.
- Processing returns and refunds.
- Sales and Stock Management:
- Restocking shelves and displays.
- Maintaining a clean and organized store environment.
- Participating in promotional events.
- Pricing and rotating stock.
- Unpacking deliveries and checking off orders.
- Packing customer orders
- You'll be responsible for packing orders securely for shipping, ensuring that items are protected from damage during transit.
Desired, but not essential:
- Clean UK driving licence (1+ years)
- DBS check
This is a seasonal business and working hours may vary based on tides and weather, so flexibility is key!

We're Sandy Point Watersports, a family-run chandlery specialising in dinghy sailing and windsurfing. We have one mission: to help our customers get out on the water and have a good time!
We've been operating since 2018 and offer many services including the sale of chandlery goods, marine hardware and clothing for dinghy sailing and windsurfing. We also offer splicing, rigging and sail repairs from our sewing unit .
Our clients range all the way from high performance dinghy sailors/windsurfers, including world and national champions, with many national and international events being held on site, to more casual watersports enthusiasts who are seeking to learn new skills and have fun on the water!
